Worn In—Not Worn Out

Yesterday Holly phoned to order a Folding Fedora Panama for her husband, to replace his old beloved hat. And last week Carol called to order a Riverz Scout for her husband to replace the hat he's been wearing in the garden for years. A few days later she returned it, with photos, saying he preferred his old out of shape hat.

"He's had it a few years now I guess. It's possible that after wearing it all day every day in the garden during our growing season, it acquired the shape he prefers, but I don't know.  I thought it was getting awfully grubby with constant handling with dirty hands, so figured I'd surprise him with a new one. Turns out, he's wedded to the old one, like a kid who refuses to let go of a favoritre old raggedy tee shirt! So I returned the new one and washed the old one with a foam cleaner (Bathroom Tub & Tile Cleaner, believe it or not), then rinsed it thoroughly in the shower. It came out surprisingly bright and clean. Who knew? Quite  a selling feature! Now we're both happy.

If he ever really manages to destroy the hat, rest assured we'll be ordering another from you."

And I remember another fellow who ordered a new Folding Fedora Panama to accommodate his wife, who would not longer permit him to wear the hat in front of the house, okay to wear it in the back garden, but not in front of the house.
