Optimo is the classic historic panama style. When the hats called panamas first reached North America and Europe, the soft, resilient palm straw precipitated a fashion revolution. The hats could be folded along the optimo crease and rolled to carry. Hence they were called "optimo" -- the best.
The Country Optimo is the classic styling in a practical hat with tight weave UPF50+ sun protection, open weave band for ventilation, and leather lace chincord for practical comfort. An interior elasticized moisture-wicking sweat band provides comfort and fit. Approximately 3 1/2" brim width.

What a wonderful hat!

Many thanks to Sally who made sure that I received the right style that I really wanted. Through her careful consideration and knowledge she sent me the right style that I really had in mind. My first wonderful San Francisco Hat Company hat got crushed. But I had saved the crown that had the tag in it. I talked to Sally about it by telephone while searching the style selections on your website. Sally was genuinely interested that I get the right hat for me. So, I bought two, natural and caramel. These panama hats are so beautiful and fit well. The lace chin cord pulls up snug so I am confident it won't blow away on the prairie winds. My order was right the first time. Thank you, Sally!
