Folding Fedora goes sporty!

The San Francisco Hat Company Folding Fedora is our signature hat, designed back when most panama fedoras were stiffened hard and would crack if you picked them up by the pinch (and why is it called the pinch). In place of the usual single straw, two strands are rolled together into a strong spring-like twist that will withstand repeated folding and retain memory for shape.

We understood that panamas were historically soft and packable and helped revolutionize 19th Century fashion from stiff hats to soft hats. We determined to design a soft packable panama hat in a  contemporary fedora shape, a panama fedora that would endure repeated folding and packing. It became our signature style
